“Yeah, actually there is…” Yuya stopped to scan over his cards before picking up his Performapal Silver Claw from the scattered pile, “There’s a card called ‘Pendulum Fusion’ in here somewhere that I need, too. It kinda looks a lot like your Polymerization, but it’s actually really important.”
For him, anyway. Surprisingly enough, Yuya had a bunch of Fusion monsters that his deck allowed him to use, and just like Sora, he needed his own way of fusing monsters, too.
“Alright,” he started to scan the cards again.
It took a couple of scans, but soon enough, he snagged the spell card and passed it along.
“Maybe, but those cards only let me summon back one monster and Wonder Balloons is kind of risky.” Its help depended on the amount of Action Cards around, and if Yuya couldn’t find many, it wasn’t that effective.
But there was one card that was better for his defense-
“What about my Super Hippo Carnival? Do you see it anywhere? ‘Cause I know its gotta be in here somewhere.”
Sora scanned the cards near him, searching for the specific one. Finally the colorful hippo-based spell showed itself and Sora was quick to snatch it.
“Here you go coach,” Sora smiled as he passed along the card. “Any others I should keep an eye out for?”
“…Sora, I thought you were supposed to be helping me? But that doesn’t answer anything at all!”
Yuya dropped his head, staring at the only card he’d managed to pick up before Sora had shown up. His Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon was a given and so where the rest of his counterpart’s dragons, but-
“I just feel like it’s missing something.”
“Oops, sorry coach.”
Whether he actually was or not was debatable… Either way, at least he was going to try and be a little more helpful.
“So, you have your dragons right?” Sora wanted to check as he checked the other cards.
He picked up a spell and a trap to pass along.
“What about Illusion Balloons or Performapal Revival? Would either of those help? I think I see one called Wonder Balloons over here too. I can pass that along.”
Maybe that was the problem though. He’d already been happy with it before, but he’d felt like it’d needed something as Yuya took back his card.
“But tell me something, Sora. Don’t you ever just get that feeling that you have to look over your deck just because it’s been awhile since you’ve done it last?”
“Well, yeah. Doesn’t everyone?” Sora answered.
Sora continued to look through the nearby cards, trying to see if there were any traps or spells he could suggest.
“I mean sometimes it needs an upgrade, but sometimes it’s fine as it is.”
As if the jumbled mess of cards scattered all around where Yuya sat wasn’t clue enough of that. The cards on the floor closest to Sora were several of his Performapals, followed by every other card the teen seemed to own after that.
“I sat down to tweak a few things in my deck, but the only thing I ended up tweaking was one big headache.”
“No kidding,” Sora sat down by the Performapal cards.
He picked up Hip Hippo and handed it to Yuya.
“I would think this one is an obvious one for you.” Sora commented then looked at Yuya.
“So, what were you planning to tweak in the first place?”
“…When people say Dueling looks easy, they’re definitely not talking about this part.” He’s got the entire floor in front of him covered in cards and only room for forty for him to pick from. Yuya wasn’t sure if this was deck editing anymore or just the fast way to a headache.
“How’s it going coach?” Sora asked.
He walked in and looked over the mess of cards.
“Not well I take it?” he looked through some of the closer cards.
“Seriously Sora, how can you eat that crap? You know the Professor doesn’t let us eat things like that for a reason, its not good for the body of a soldier. Or are you looking to get fat and get demoted?” The red haired girl sniped, though the smirk on her face betrayed the fact she was mostly teasing. Really, he always came back from that dimension with so much of it, she was at a loss how the Professor let him get away with it.
Must be because he’s one of his favorite. Lord how she detested anyone who stood above her in the Professor’s eyes… “So what is Standard like? Have you located the targets yet?”
“Crap? Oh come on, it’s not that bad.” Sora replied as he playfully smiled. “Honestly, I feel bad for you Whisper. It must suck to have such a terrible sense of taste. Besides, the likelihood of me getting demoted is about as likely as you giving up on your hunt.”
He took another bite of the chocolate bar he was eating. He knew as long as he completed his mission and kept up his good work, the Professor wasn’t going to care.
“Standard’s alright. Could do without the XYZ users though.” he tried to keep it brief in order to avoid admitting that he was starting to care about some of the people in Standard. “The prey is about as slippery as usual, but I’ll catch them in good time. The longer they think they’re safe, the more fun it is to crush them.”
Sora couldn’t help the devilish turn his smile took.
